Oxy 5 Injection

• Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride – 50 mg (5% w/v)

• Excipients / Vehicle – q.s. to 1 ml

Indications:

OXY 5% Injection is indicated for infections in animals caused by microorganisms susceptible to oxytetracycline, including:

• Respiratory infections – chronic respiratory disease (CRD), shipping fever, blue comb

• Gastrointestinal infections – gastro-enteritis, salmonellosis, dysentery

• Reproductive infections – metritis, mastitis

• Musculoskeletal and skin infections – foot rot, sinusitis

• Urinary tract infections

• Liver abscesses

• Other infections caused by Rickettsia, Leptospira, Mycoplasmas, Chlamydia, Actinomyces, and some protozoa.

• Do not use in animals hypersensitive to tetracyclines.

• Avoid use in animals with liver or kidney insufficiency.

• Do not combine with penicillins or cephalosporins, as they may interfere with efficacy.

• Side effects may include:

  • Hypersensitivity reactions

  • Intestinal disturbances

  • Local tissue reactions after intramuscular injection (especially in horses and foals)

  • Rarely, severe or fatal enteritis in horses

• Use only as directed by a veterinarian.

• Follow the recommended withdrawal periods before slaughter or milking:

  • 14 days before slaughter

  • 4 days before milking

• Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight, and keep out of reach of children.

Dosage & Administration:

• General dose: 10–20 mg/kg body weight daily.

• Administer via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection as directed by a veterinarian.

• Repeat the dose for 3–4 days if necessary, depending on the severity of the infection.

• Ensure proper hygiene and sterile technique during administration.
